A letter from the President of the Franklin County Missouri Historical Society:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Franklin County Historical Society suffered a great loss in June with the passing of Robert “Bob” Hansen. As you may know, he owned the building that houses our museum. Over the last two years we have drastically grown the museum in size and quality. Our patrons are impressed with what we have done and how we have honored the history of our communities and the families in them.
We are now needing to locate a new home for the museum and artifacts and records. This must take place very soon. To do this in the current real estate climate we need to raise additional funds for a new building. Our goal is to raise $400,000 to purchase a building. 100% of funds are used to support the museum. We have no paid positions, as many museums do. We are 100% donor and volunteer supported. As a 501c3 organization, tax benefits are available for discounted use of a building until we can purchase one. Please see your tax advisor for more information.
Time may require us to temporarily locate to a place to ensure that items are kept at proper humidity and temperatures. If you can help with a temporary home, please call.
If you have visited the museum, been a member of the society, or have roots in Franklin County, we implore you to search your heart and reach into your pocket to help us continue our mission to preserve, save, and share our history, your history, for generations to come. Donations should be mailed to the address above or can be picked up by a board member.
Regards,
Lynn Wagner, President
